ICE Rugs was founded in 1971 as a family business in Utrecht.
Over the decades, the company evolved from a local rug store into an international authority in bespoke handmade rugs for luxury interiors.
Frits Janssen believed that everyone who walked through the door should leave feeling welcome. That belief still runs through everything we do.
A new generation. a new direction
From a rug shop to a creative partner
Marc and Rogier Janssen grew up surrounded by rugs, clients and conversations about craft. When they took over the business, they knew what designers truly needed. Not another supplier, but a creative partner who could sit alongside them, speak their language and help bring their vision to life.
They shifted the focus from retail to bespoke. From selling rugs to designing them. From transactions to long-term relationships with architects and interior designers working on the world’s most ambitious projects. Hotels, private residences, superyachts, palaces.
Where we are today
From that moment, ICE Rugs became something different. A creative partner, not a catalogue. A team that works alongside designers from the very first sketch to the final installation.
More than 50 years later, the same spirit runs through everything we do. Everyone who works with us, from the designers in our studio to the artisans tying the final knots, genuinely cares about the outcome.
Today, we work alongside some of the world’s most exceptional designers and architects. The projects have changed. The way we work together hasn’t.
